Rookie Coders Homeschool Edition

Rookie Coders – Spring 2024

Our Rookie Coder class explores web animation and coding by harnessing your student’s natural creativity. In six short weeks, your child will build several projects and gain important coding skills.

  • Who: Students 3rd-6th grade. (We have been successful with younger students; however, reading is required.)
  • When: Tuesdays 10:00 am – 11:30 am April 23 – May 28, 2024
  • Where: BiG Fab Lab, Bowling Green, OH

Family friendly! As with all Kool Kat Science classes, a parent, guardian, or mentor may attend with their student at no additional charge.

Cost: $90/student

Course Content

This class is taught using Scratch, a block-based coding application developed by MIT. The course is divided into four projects, and programming topics covered include:

  • Sprites and movement
  • Data and variables
  • Logic and algorithms
  • Loops and conditions
  • Digital artwork

Students receive a certificate and notebook with all programming exercises at the end of the class. Sample Lesson.
